Line drawing of 18th century bellows camera

Photographs

Wherever possible a colour photograph is required for a colour picture but I can produce a black and white pencil or charcoal image from either a colour photograph or a black and white photograph.

Try to find a clear, bright image; photographs that are lit well are usually more effective than a flat, dark image. If the picture is for a portrait then make sure the face fills most of the photograph, that includes pets too. On the whole a photograph of A5 size is ideal. If in any doubt there are excellent photographers who can do the job for you (Julian Newman Turner - Lucid Dream Pictures).

Think also about the size of photograph. If you are emailing or texting an image then I should be able to resize the image accordingly when I receive it - providing the camera used is of a good quality. I will let you know if the image cannot be used. If you are posting a photograph please send me something larger than a basic snapshot – again make sure the image to be drawn or painted dominates the photograph. Protect it well too! Give me lots of details about who you are, where you are from, the size of picture required, which media you prefer and when you need it – there is an order form on the ordering pages if you would like to send me an image via email.

Please send me your photographs in one of the following ways:

  • Text your image to 07543668269 with an accompanying text or phone call so I know who you are.
  • Email your image with accompanying details by using my order form.
  • Post your photograph with lots of protection to:

    Pastel Pencil and Paint
    Copper Cottage
    Post Office Row
    Weston
    Hitchin
    Hertfordshire
    SG4 7AU

I will acknowledge receipt of all images, if you don’t hear from me I haven’t received anything!

If you are sending pictures for the Romantic section rest assured that I will handle these with the utmost discretion I will only display the finished work on the website gallery with your permission. I will return any hard copies of photographs and delete all images once the work has been completed to your satisfaction.
